There is no fixed price for an AI video. A finished video costs the price of one generation times the number of takes you need, plus image prep, sound and edits. Model, resolution and length set the price per take: in our check, 10 seconds cost about $1.35 on Kling 4.0 at 720p and about $7.84 on Seedance 2.5 at 1080p. For example, our 10-second clip cost 160.125 credits (about $7.85) in one take.

What Is the Real Cost of an AI Video?

The real cost of an AI video is everything you spend to reach the version you publish, not the price of one generation. It adds up image prep, every video take you keep or discard, sound and edits. The Generate button shows the price of one take; the finished video can cost several takes.

What goes into the total:

  • Reference images. A still that fixes the character, outfit and location before you animate it.
  • Video takes. Every completed generation is charged, including takes you decide not to use.
  • Failed generations. Credits for failed generations usually return automatically, so they do not add to the total.
  • Sound. Some models generate audio in the same take; otherwise you add it in a separate tool.
  • Edits. Upscaling, extending a clip or fixing part of a shot is charged as its own generation.

A first take that works is the cheapest possible case. Plan your budget for retakes, even if you don’t end up needing them. For a deeper look at how credits are deducted, see Why Your AI Video Credits Run Out Faster Than You Expect.

What We Made and What It Cost

We made one 10-second fashion clip on Higgsfield. It took one reference image and one Seedance 2.5 take, for a total of 160.125 credits ($7.85).

How we counted:

  • Date and prices: generated and priced on October 30, 2026.
  • Attempt: any completed take we would have to discard. Failed generations usually return automatically.
  • Conversion: $49 for 1,000 credits (approx. $0.049 per credit).
  • Plan: Seedance 2.5 is available on paid plans from $49 for 1,000 credits; it is not included in the entry-level plan.

Higgsfield is a generative platform for creative production, with 35+ frontier models for generating images and turning them into video scenes. We picked Seedance 2.5 because the clip needed native sound, an image reference to keep the outfit and street consistent, and 1080p output in one take. We ran both steps through Higgsfield’s MCP connector in Claude; the credit prices match the Generate button in the web app.

Approx. cost uses $49 for 1,000 credits (approx. $0.049 per credit). Totals cover service costs only, not the author’s time. Prices are the regular per-generation prices shown on the Generate button, checked on October 30, 2026. Generation discounts are personal, so your account may show a lower price. Prices and plan details may change.

The first take was usable, so this clip needed no retakes. That is our result with a prompt, not a rule: a different scene can need more takes. If this clip had needed three takes, the total would have been 480.125 credits (approx. $23.53).

What Changes the Cost of an AI Video

Five things set the price of an AI video: the model, the length, the resolution, the number of scenes and the number of retakes. In our price check, 10 seconds on Seedance 2.5 cost 30 to 160 credits, and 27.5 to 40 credits on Kling 4.0, before any retakes.

Here is how each factor moved the price of our clip:

Almost triples

Why the same length doesn’t mean the same budget. Ten seconds of video are priced from 27.5 to 160 credits, depending only on model and resolution. Add retakes and the spread grows: a 10-second clip that needs three 1080p Seedance 2.5 takes costs twelve times more than one Kling 4.0 take at 1080p. We did not run a same-prompt quality test on Kling 4.0, so these numbers compare price, not results.

Scenes add up the same way. A 30-second ad built from three 10-second shots costs three takes at minimum. If each shot needs a retake, it costs six.

How Do You Calculate Your Budget?

Budget per video = (price per take × expected takes) + image prep + sound and edits. Then divide your monthly credits by that number to see how many finished videos a plan covers. Keep the subscription fee and the credits per video as two separate numbers.

A worked example based on our clip:

  1. Price per take: check the Generate button. For our settings it was 160 credits.
  2. Expected takes: use your own history. If you don’t have one yet, start with an assumption, for example two takes per shot, and adjust after your first videos.
  3. Image prep: 0.125 credits for one reference image in our case.
  4. Sound and edits: 0 for us, since Seedance 2.5 generated sound in the same take.
  5. Budget per video: 160 × 2 + 0.125 = 320.125 credits (approx. $15.69) if you plan for two takes.
  6. Videos per month: 1,000 credits ÷ 320.125 ≈ 3 finished clips like ours.

Two checks before you start: make sure your plan includes the model and resolution you need, and check the exact price on the Generate button. On Higgsfield’s entry-level plan, Veo, Sora 2 and Seedance 2.0 are closed (except Seedance 2.0 Fast at 720p and Seedance 2.0 Mini), and Kling 3.0 runs only at 720p.

How to Spend Fewer Credits

Spend cheap credits while you search for the shot and full-price credits only on the final take. Test motion in drafts, at lower resolution or at shorter length, and reuse the same reference images and Elements across scenes. On Seedance 2.5, a 10-second clip at 480p cost 30 credits, against 160 at 1080p.

  • Draft first. Seedance 2.5 drafts at 480p can be finalized at 1080p within seven days. Seedance 2.0 Fast and Seedance 2.0 Mini cost less per take than Seedance 2.5, so they also work for tests.
  • Test at 720p. Our clip cost 70 credits at 720p. Check the motion and framing there, then generate the final version at 1080p.
  • Test short. Five seconds cost half of ten on Seedance 2.5. Check the action first, then generate the full length.
  • Reuse your assets. Our reference image cost 0.125 credits and can serve as the reference for the next scenes too. Saved Elements (characters, locations and objects) keep the same look without new prep.
  • Write one change per retake. Changing one thing at a time shows you what fixed the shot.
