The free version of Tracktion’s DAW software has recently received an update that introduces a new Mix Analysis feature, a redesigned Render window and a new bundled software instrument.
Waveform Free 14.1’s new Mix Analysis tool allows the DAW’s AI Assistant to examine the project’s audio and provide users with an insight into their mix’s loudness, true peak, dynamics, spectral balance and mono compatibility. It’ll identify tracks that are contributing to a ‘muddy’ mix, and give users suggestions on how to tackle the issues that are affecting their overall result.
Exporting has been simplified thanks to a redesigned Render window, which now offers pattern-based file naming and a live preview that helps to organise deliverables — it also incorporates LUFS normalisation, making quick work of ensuring files are delivered at the appropriate levels. Tracktion’s Attracktive virtual instrument has now joined the Waveform Free line-up, while a new Plugins detail editor displays a track’s plug-ins in-line and a Pattern Generator toggle in the Clip detail editor puts composition tools within easy reach. Finally, the update also introduces a rewritten MP3 encoder and an assortment of stability improvements.
Compatibility
Waveform Free 14.1 is supported on PCs running Windows 10 or later, Macs running macOS 13 and above, and Linux machines running Ubuntu 24.04.
